Nrutyabhinaya Competition

Welcome to Nrutyabhinaya, a solo Bharatanatyam Abhinaya competition.

Date: 23rd August, 2026 (Sunday)

Venue: Kalaprabha, Black Box Theatre by Kalachaya, Patrakar Nagar, Pune, Maharashtra 411016

The following are the rules and regulations of the competition. We advise you to read these carefully to avoid any confusion and misunderstandings.

Performance Rules:

• All of you are expected to perform a Natya piece, that is, an Abhinaya composition.

• Age Groups: Juniors (10 to 17 years) Seniors (18 to 30 years)

• The piece should be a traditional Abhinaya composition like a Padam, Javali, or an Ashtapadi (Shabdam not allowed).

• The minimum duration is 5 minutes, and the maximum duration is 8 minutes. Failure to adhere to the time limit will result in direct disqualification.

• Before starting the presentation, please introduce yourself (your name, age, city) and the composition you will be presenting (raga, tala, choreography, composer).

• The time you need to do this introduction will not be counted in the time limit.

• After the presentation, our judges will ask some questions related to your performance.

• This viva will carry marks in the final mark sheet.

• All of you are requested to strictly wear the traditional Bharatanatyam costume. Wearing a half saree, draped saree, Dhoti or Dawni will result in direct disqualification.

• All of you are expected to bring along your music both on your phones and on a pen drive.

• Our judges may ask you to present or prepare a small choreography on the spot, so it is necessary that you are prepared for this, too (APPLICABLE TO THE SENIOR CATEGORY ONLY).

• The reporting time and slot division will be conveyed to you a few days ahead of the competition.

  
  

  Judgement and Prize Distribution :

• Winners will receive cash prizes, certificates, and gifts.

• Only three prizes will be awarded in each category.

• Prize distribution will take place on the same day in the evening.

• The competition will be held in Pune. The exact venue will be announced soon.
